"Evening in Bloom" was a sneak peek for the Chicago Flower & Garden Show
at Navy Pier. This year the worlds of fashion and horticulture collided,
creating an experience that rivals the hottest runway show! With its "Hort
Couture" theme, the show's 25-plus gardens will draw inspiration from
textures and colors found in plants and fabrics, as well as alluring and
beautiful elements found in nature. The benefit’s proceeds will go to the
Chicago Gateway Green and Friends of the Parks.
In keeping with the theme, models strolled the show wearing new creations
by local young designers from the Chicago Fashion Incubator. Designers
included Christina Fan, Miriam Cecilia, Taneasha Prunty, Crystal B. Designs,
Evil Kitty, Agga B, and Cettina.
Cast members from the NBC daytime drama “Days of Our Lives,” which has
a feature garden in the show, mingled with guests as they sample fine wines,
cocktails, delectable hors d’oeuvres and fine sweet treats.
The entrance garden sets the tone for "Hort Couture," with a magnificently
stylized sculpture by Jenny Pickford, an English rising star who designs and
fashions unique sculptures, water features and architectural ironworks. This
garden features living walls that seclude the rest of the show until the visitor
emerges into its colorful "wow!"

This isn't your grandmother's flower show! While it's still "all about the
plants," there's much more to do, see, learn and experience than ever before.
