Zoo-ologie: A Midsummer
Night’s Roar
Nearly 1,000 of Chicago’s young philanthropists raised their glasses and their
voices for wildlife at Lincoln Park Zoo’s Zoo-ologie: A Midsummer Night’s Roar.
The seventh annual Auxiliary Board event raised more than $200,000 to support
Lincoln Park Zoo’s The Pride of Chicago campaign, which helps fund new
initiatives at the zoo such as Robert and Mayari Pritzker Penguin Cove.
VIP guests kicked off the night with a special reception including exclusive food
stations, a private bar and passed champagne, as well as encounters with a ball
python and blue tongued skink. All guests indulged their culinary curiosities with
fare from 20 different Chicago restaurants, danced to the tunes of Hello Weekend
and DJ Rock City and bid on 66 premier packages during the silent auction,
including an all-inclusive homestay in Mexico and tickets to the musical Hamilton.
Zoo-ologie guests were the first to try “Ursus Mapletimus,” an 8% ABV Smoked
Maple Imperial White Ale beer crafted by DryHop Brewers to benefit the zoo’s new
state-of-the-art polar bear exhibit, Walter Family Arctic Tundra, polar bear
research and climate change awareness efforts. DryHop’s Executive Chef Jeff
Dysart paired this craft brew with a bourbon maple syrup ice cream drizzled in a
vanilla-rye whisky glaze and topped with smoked sugar, blackberry and mint in a
waffle cone.
The evening featured fare from partners at CAVA, Hub51, Jeni’s Splendid Ice
Creams, Il Porcellino, Saigon Sisters, Sprinkles, Bang Chop, Chicago Yacht Club,
DryHop Brewers, Oyster Bah, Old Town Social, The Peninsula, Geja’s Café,
Chicago Chef’s Table, Coast, Goat & Group, RJ Grunts, Naoki Sushi and
SteakBar.
