WHEN: Friday, February 24, 2012 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. WHERE: River East Art Center, 435 East Illinois Street - Chicago The town will be painted pink for the seventh time on February 24 for Chicago's hottest party for a great cause: Tickled Pink, benefitting Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization. Regarded as one of Chicago's best charity events, Tickled Pink, hosted by the newly-formed Y-ME Auxiliary Board, brings together the city's hip, young and young-at-heart for a celebration worthy of any V.I.P, all to ensure no one faces breast cancer alone. This year Tickled Pink celebrates its seventh anniversary and continues to grow, bringing Chicagoans together in a fun and fashionable way to help a worthy cause. "Due to the popularity of Tickled Pink we needed a larger venue with a bigger dance floor," said Jodi Fyfe, Tickled Pink event chair and Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization board member. "Tickled Pink has really become a tradition in our city and we are well on our way to raise a million dollars for Y-ME by 2013." At the event, guests will walk the pink carpet, sip on delicious cocktails and top shelf open bar (including the famous Tickled Pink-tini!) and dine on hors d'oeuvres by Paramount Events, Purple Pig, Heaven on Seven, Terzo Piano and Bon Appetite, along with sushi from Macku plus late night munchies by many more of Chicago's favorite restaurants, including Homerun Inn Pizza. Partygoers will also have the opportunity to schmooze with Chicago celebrities who will serve as guest bartenders and help fundraise at the event. As always, Tickled Pink's dance floor will be the place to be seen with the sounds of DJs from Fig Media keeping the crowd dancing all night long! Everyone will have the chance to win big with exciting raffle packages such as restaurant dining for a year (a new restaurant a month) and the ultimate guy and girl's night out. Tickets are $75. Tickled Pink Celebrates 7th Anniversary Charity Bash on February 24 Makes a Cold February Night Sizzle On Its Way To Raise A Million Dollars! |
About Tickled Pink In February 2004, Carrie Kenney lost her seven year battle with breast cancer at the age of 35. One year later, her cousin, Jodi Fyfe gathered a group of close friends and colleagues to start Tickled Pink Chicago in honor of Carrie. Carrie was a fun-loving, young woman who was diagnosed at the age of 27 and looked to Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization for information. She found answers to her questions but also found unwavering support from women who had also battled breast cancer and could relate to her experience first hand. After Carrie's death at the tragically young age of 35, Jodi was determined to make a contribution to the organization that had given so much to her cousin when she needed it most. Jodi began by forming a team for the 2004 Y-ME race but she wanted to find another way to remember the vibrant, fun-loving person who inspired her so much…and so Tickled Pink was born! In February 2005, Tickled Pink threw its first party and raised $35,000! Every year the party and team of individuals that came together to ensure no one has to face breast cancer alone has grown and to date has raised more than $800,000 for Y-ME. About Y-ME Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization is the only place in the world where someone touched by breast cancer can call - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year - to talk to a breast cancer survivor and be understood in 150 different languages. For more than 30 years, Y-ME has been working to assure that no one faces breast cancer alone. Talk to a peer counselor at 1-800-221-2141, or visit y-me.org. |
