The Shorty Collaborative and Gen Art Chicago to Host "Shorty Clothing E-Boutique Launch" at Lumen in Chicago |
The Shorty Collaborative (www.shortyclothing.com) and Gen Art Chicago (www.genart.org) are pleased to debut Shorty Clothing's whimsical, yet edgy, 2009 Rock and Roll Meets Rococo Collection with a Shorty Clothing e-commerce boutique launch event at Chicago's nightlife innovator, Lumen (839 West Fulton Market St.). On Thursday, September 24, 2009, from 7 to 10:00 p.m. guests can enjoy signature drinks at a private cocktail reception sponsored by Grey Goose, Corzo and Bacardio, a virtual fashion show, a ShortyClothing.com brand essence video, and much more. Partial ticket proceeds will benefit Gen Art Chicago. Goodie bags for the first 200 guests. |
The Shorty E-Boutique will create a high-end boutique experience online. The online presence will create sensory rich experiences that will engage, entertain and allow clients to "walk" through the store, browse, zoom in and purchase products. Lumen, known as Chicago's mixed-media haven, will serve as the perfect backdrop to showcase this interactive product. Guests will experience these following highlights, which will encompass the E-Boutique's offerings: ShortyClothing.com Virtual Fashion Show: an installation piece showcasing the clothing items as they exist in an everyday social setting. Using footage shot on green screen of the models on the runway and in various social situation behaviors, the program will randomly generate unique configurations of model, environment, and background. ShortyClothing.com Brand Essence Video: a viral video will follow an effortlessly glamorous, self-confident "Shorty Girl" as she comes to life in a web browser; does some shopping in a virtual world, and then brings to real life all that she has brought with her as she comes out of a computer screen and into a condo in Chicago. E-Commerce Stations: laptops will be present to purchase collection pieces online and get a glimpse of the new website layout The new Rock and Roll Meets Rococo Collection melds opposing themes and features wearable opulence infused with a sexy punk rock edge. The inspiration comes from the 80's animated series Jem and the Holograms meets Marie Antoinette. Each unique motif stays true to the brand's mantra: to inspire effortless glamour, while bringing luxury into casual-wear designing for real women and their bodies. |
"The new collection features whimsical details such as the flattering gathers of the pouf skirt to the frothy layers of ruffles, modern bustles, sexy ruched skirts, and a glam rock feminine spin on tuxedo jackets," says co-designer Janna Boyd. "Our collections are always designed with a woman's figure in mind so that she looks and feels absolutely striking in our pieces," says co-designer Sophie Lin. "Though the collection is the product of high-end, couture styling, each piece can easily be worn off the runway to urban sidewalks." |
