The Women’s Board of the Joffrey Ballet Invites You to the Gala Event of the Year
Join the Women's Board of the Joffrey Ballet as they
"change it up" a bit in recognition of their 10th
Anniversary! This celebration will highlight the
$15,000,000 of support they have given to the
organization, making them the single largest
contributor to the operating fund of the Joffrey Ballet.
The event will take place on Sunday, May 6, which coincidentally is the date of the last Joffrey performance of the 2011-2012 season. To honor the incredible dancers for their passion and talent, the Women's Board will partner with the Junior Auxiliary Board for a "Grande Finale" party after the Gala dinner. This will be the first time that the dancers, Women's Board and the Junior Auxiliary Board will be participating together in an event.
The "evening attire" event will begin promptly at 6:30 at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, 50 East Congress Parkway. Artistic Director, Ashley Wheater, has developed a dazzling program, beginning and ending with selections from Balanchines "Stars and Stripes. Other season favorites will be included as well as a performance by the crowd-pleasing Exelon Strobel Touring Troupe.
Trolleys will be waiting to transport the guests to the Palmer House Hilton Ballroom, 17 East Monroe Street, for cocktails and dinner. Guests will be entertained by a video, produced by Women's Board member, Donna LaPietra, highlighting the 10 years of exponential growth of the Women's Board. The Arpino Angel Award will then recognize Jay Alix, Una Jackman, Erica Mann Ramis and Harold Ramis, the talented producers behind the film Joffrey: Mavericks of American Dance.

Tickets are priced at $600.00 for the performance, Gala dinner and "Grande Finale", tables ranging from $6,000 to $25,000. In honor of the 10-year celebration, the gala has a dedicated team of co-chairs including Mary Jo Basler, Nancy Gottlieb Bauer, Kate Bensen, Mary Pat Burns, Joan Colmar, Pamella Roland DeVos, Leslie Hindman, Victoria Holdren, Anne Kaplan, Donna LaPietra, Jan Melk and Liz Sharp. Last year’s gala raised $1.3 million in general operating funds for the Joffrey. The 2012 Spring Gala presenting sponsor is Harris Private Bank. Other sponsors include the Alphawood Foundation and Michigan Avenue magazine as the media partner.
