The Power Of Pink! Macy’s and The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® Partner to Fund a Cure With Exclusive Limited-Time Only Fashions This October, women survivors and those affected by breast cancer, will be unified by the power of pink, as they honor and celebrate breast cancer awareness month. Macy’s, America’s department store and The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF) will once again join forces to draw attention, raise awareness and generate funds in the fight against breast cancer. Macy’s stores across the country will support the movement by offering exclusive pink fashions, cosmetics and home merchandise. To further harness the power of pink, INC International Concepts and Ellen Tracy were invited to create two pieces exclusively designed for Macy’s. According to the American Cancer Society, more than 200,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer (Stages I-IV) will be diagnosed among women in the United States, resulting in approximately 40,000 deaths per year. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer. Through various partnerships and joint efforts, Macy’s maintains a steadfast dedication to finding a cure. This year’s program is targeted to reaching customers in every aspect of their lives. “Macy’s has been a staunch advocate of the breast cancer awareness movement, not only during the month of October, but throughout the year. Breast cancer affects all of us and its impact can be felt globally. Our partnership with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation allows everyone to join in the fight – from our vendors that design exclusive merchandise, to employees who volunteer their time and of course, to the customers who give generously through shopping at our stores,” says Martine Reardon, executive vice president of marketing, Macy’s, Inc. “For more than 10 years we’ve supported the BCRF's research and prevention initiatives and we’ll continue to champion this cause until a cure is found.” “The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is honored to have the support of Macy’s and their loyal customers in our fight against breast cancer,” said Myra J. Biblowit, president of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. “ The Breast Cancer Research Foundation provides critical funding for innovative clinical and translational research. We believe that research saves lives, and Macy’s brings national attention to our cause.” This October, many Macy’s vendors will think pink, with a percentage of the sales going directly to BCRF and other worthy organizations for the cause.
