Experience Macy's 2010 Annual
Spring Flower Show "Spring Is In The
Air" at Macy's on State Street. For
two weeks, an extraordinary floral
fantasy transforms the historic State
Street store with vibrant colors and
the sweet aroma of spring alongside
captivating in-store demonstrations
and special events* that will have
customers budding with excitement!
Be sure to stop by the Cosmetics
Department to view the Bouquet of
the Day - a magnificent floral
centerpiece creation designed by
local Chicago florists every three
days.

Guided tours of the Flower Show
by the University of Illinois
Extension Master Gardeners.

Thursdays through Sundays during
Macy's Flower Show (except Easter
Sunday) - 11AM, 1PM and 3PM
Visitors wishing to take an intimate
journey through the Flower Show can
participate in a complimentary tour
guided by one of the University of
Illinois Extension's Master
Gardeners. Tours depart from the
Fountain Atrium on the first floor of
Macy's on State Street on a
first-come, first-serve basis.

Cooking Demonstration by Chefs Dan Smith
and Steve McDonagh of The Hearty Boys
March 30 - 12noon - Lower Level, Culinary Kitchen
Join Chefs Dan Smith and Steve McDonagh for a
cooking demonstration. Dan and Steve started their
catering business, The Hearty Boys, out of an 8'x8'
apartment kitchen in Chicago. Without the aid of
formal culinary training, these accidental experts
are trend-setting caterers, restaurateurs, cookbook
authors and TV hosts of their show "Party Line
with The Hearty Boys" on the Food Network. Their
spin on classic American comfort dishes at their
restaurants, HB and Hearty, has turned them into
wildly successful Chicago landmarks. Following the
demonstration, The Hearty Boys will be signing
copies of their cookbook, Talk With Your Mouth Full,
packed with exciting but accessible recipes, clever
how-to tips and a gaggle of tales from the catering

Army & Lou's Restaurant

Join Chef Nicole Hill of Army & Lou's Restaurant, as
she demonstrates how to make a soul food
favorite. Since 1945, this soul food establishment

Lincoln Park Zoo

Macy’s SVP of Stores, Mike Dervos, will ceremonially present 24 Purple Prince
Crabapple trees used in Macy’s Annual Flower Show, “Spring is in the Air,” to
representatives of the Chicago Department of the Environment. These trees will be
planted in Chicago’s neighborhood parks and gardens this spring.

The Chicago Department of the Environment will work with NeighborSpace, a
not-for-profit organization charged with the mission to acquire and preserve
community gardens in the City of Chicago on behalf of dedicated community groups.
NeighborSpace, which currently owns 68 gardens in 30 wards of Chicago, will help
find new homes for the 24 Purple Prince Crabapple trees. Each tree weighs
approximately 450 pounds and reaches 12-15-feet tall. Greencorps of Chicago, a
division of the Chicago Department of the Environment, will plant the trees in the
chosen neighborhoods.
