Lara Miller - a leader in contemporary sustainable fashion and
Executive Director of the Chicago Fashion Incubator at Macy's
State Street - will debut her SPRING 2010 collection at New York
Fashion Week as part of The GreenShows, a two-day event
showcasing the best in smart sustainable style. A select group of
designers have been chosen based on their fashion-forward
sensibilities and ethical standards to present full runway shows on
September 15th and 16th 2009. Miller's collection kicks off the
second day of The GreenShows, developed by Ed Media founder
Eric Dorfman [PROJECT TRADE SHOW, NYLON MAG] the
first-ever group of sustainable fashion shows to be produced at NY

Silhouettes reference springtime in the city, when nature hits the buildings with a smile, suggesting that bondage and hugs are equally sexy after all.
Crafted locally from certified organic cotton, hand-loomed wild-harvested bamboo, raw silk organza and recycled cotton fibers. Sundry shades of blues, creams, and iron with a pop of burnt mauve come to life in sculptural layers of knitted strings, sheer fabrics, and meshed yarn. Each collection is grounded in geometry and architecture. Once on the body, angular lines retract, mimicking the sinuous curves of a woman’s body. Developed in a theory of animation, the pieces within each collection can be played with, flipped, and recreated for each individual wearer. Balancing these conceptual pieces are classic tailored garments that focus on distinct details. Together they create a line that exudes individual spirit mirrored by smart, clean sophistication.
